Directives for the Academic Performance Ranking

1. Academic performance ranking is done on a semester basis and is normally available around two to three weeks after the grade release of each semester.

2. The ranking is based on the student’s Cumulative Grade Point Average (cGPA).

3. The class size mentioned in the ranking refers to the number of students in a student's year level and study programme (students on a leave of absence status for a given semester will be excluded).

4. For programmes involving concentrations (e.g., ELLS, GAD), rankings are calculated based on the entire programme rather than individual concentrations. For instance, students from ELLS (EPC), ELLS (LSE), and ELLS (TESOL) are ranked together within the ELLS programme.

5. Students involved in SAI talent programmes are ranked according to their original programme affiliation.

6. For students admitted through the Broad-based category scheme, ranking in the first semester before allocation is calculated based on the Broad-based programme.

7. Students who are in a concessional year of study will be ranked together with the year -4 students of the same programme.

8. Exchange-in students are not included in the ranking calculation.

Release Timeline in Each Academic Year:

Academic Performance Ranking would be updated 4 times in an academic year. The rough timeline is two to three weeks after the grade release of: (1) Semester 1 (February); (2) Make-up Exam of Semester 1 (April); (3) Semester 2 (July); (4) Summer Semester (September).
